COVID-19 race and ethnicity data
Updated weekly on Wednesday
This dashboard is no longer being updated. The final update was done on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
This dashboard shows the impacts of COVID-19 on communities of color in King County.
Over the course of the pandemic, King County residents have experienced racial and ethnic disparities in COVID-19 health outcomes and risk factors, reflected across reported cases, hospitalizations, deaths, and vaccination rates. These differences are due to systemic inequities and the long-term effects of institutional racism, and not because of biological or personal traits.
It is important to be aware of racial and ethnic disparities in COVID-19 risk and outcomes so that Public Health and our community partners can pursue targeted responses to reduce COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, and increase access to COVID-19 vaccinations and other resources.

Explore differences by race/ethnicity in:
- Current percent with up to date COVID-19 vaccination status
- Reported COVID-19 cases
- Hospitalizations due to COVID-19
- Deaths due to COVID-19.
Why these four metrics? COVID-19 vaccination reduces the risks of serious illness, hospitalization, and death. Tracking reported cases, hospitalizations, and deaths helps to monitor severe outcomes associated with COVID-19.
More information on COVID-19 vaccinations and up to date vaccination status can be found on the COVID-19 vaccination dashboard page. For reported cases, hospitalizations, and deaths due to COVID-19, age-standardized rates are used. Age standardization allows for a more representative comparison between groups since some racial/ethnic groups have more older or younger people. See the About the data page for more information.
Small populations are noted with an asterisk (*). Hover over the visuals for more information.
